Arctic wildlife watching and birding

birdwatching boat trip
The numerous different species of birds makes the northern coast of Norway a very attractive place for birdwatchers. This is home to some of the rarest and most beautiful birds in Europe. Some of them are critically endangered and hard to find elsewhere.
In spring and autumn the migration to and from the Arctic areas can be amazing. A large variety of shorebirds can be found resting on the shores on their way to and from their Arctic breeding grounds, and auks, seabirds and skuas can all be expected.
Northern Norway also has the biggest population of white-tailed eagles in Europe, and the sight of these majestic birds circling above the landscape is quite common in this area.
